Update 04/19/2016: THE LOOP IS NOW OFFICIALLY OPEN Corba MTB, the Mount Wilson Bicycling Association (MWBA), Bellfree Contractors and dozens of volunteers have been working hard on restoring the Ken Burton Trail and sections of the Arroyo below in order to complete a loop that has been missing since the Station Fire of 2009. 2016 Fifty Mile Ride for Rwanda Route (25 Mile Version)

The short route has been decided for this year’s 10th Annual Fifty Mile Ride for Rwanda.  As part of the planning team, I was happy to capture the Strava stats for it, while the others captured photos and created turn-by-turn directions on GeoLadders.  The route is more fun that ever!  We’ve moved the big climb to middle of the ride and the jungle section to near the end.  Also, we’ve added in Waterworks by popular demand. Summit Fire in Big Bear Burns Near Pine Knot Trail Area

UPDATED 08/26/2015: Based on a fire map released today, it looks like the Pine Knot trail itself may have been spared from the fire so far. The fire is actively burning just east of the Pine Knot trail as of today. But with the fire at only 50% containment and heat on the rise, the situation is far from over.
