Mt. Pinos – Chula Vista CG to the Bottom

The Mt. Pinos trail is one of the few trails in Southern California that is almost entirely downhill, making it suitable for big bikes. But be aware that this is a two-way trail used by mountain bikers, hikers and horses. People coming uphill have the right of way and mountain bikers should yield to all traffic.

Bonus Climb

(Not recommended for downhill bikes.) If you don’t mind doing 1.73 miles and 533′ of climbing, you can extend your downhill run by riding up from the Chula Vista parking area to the Mount Pinos Communications Site (8881′). In that case you’re entire downhill run would be about 7.75 miles. NOTE: You cannot drive past the parking area. The gate is always locked.
