Tucked away in South Orange County along Highway 73 (Ortega Hwy), Casper’s Wilderness Park is a hidden gem for mountain bikers. Although it’s mostly comprised of fire roads, the panoramic views of surrounding areas like Coto De Caza and the Santa Ana Mountains make this a great beginner ride. On this route you’ll get a nice blend of fire roads and single tracks through Sycamore groves. Be careful though: this area is very popular for equestrians. The downhill sections are tempting to just let loose, but with many blind corners, mountain bikers need to be especially careful to not run into other trail users.
